my hair secrets

I’ve had long hair for as long as I can remember, but the last few years it’s really been growing a lot. People often ask me about my secret, so I thought I’d give you a few tips that might help!

When I was a kid I almost didn’t have any hair, and I hated when my mum tried to fix it. It was always super-messy, and made my mum so frustrated when nothing worked.
Luckily, after a while it grew out and I’ve never cut it short since! I did want to cut bangs like Hannah Montana (hahaha) for a short period, but I’m so happy I didn’t do it. I’ve never coloured it either, but I’ve always wondered what I would look like as a brunette. Well maybe one day we will see, but for now I’m happy staying blonde with my natural colour!

Hair is very individual so I can only speak for myself, but here are some things that works for me at least:

  • Wash it maximum 2 times a week
I try to wash my hair maximum 2 times a week, because it’s actually bad for your hair if you wash it every day. Of course, if you’ve been sweating a lot or you for some other reason need to wash it, do it! But try your best to wait an extra day or two, and your hair will also get used to it and stop getting greasy as fast!
  • Let it air dry
I can’t remember the last time I used a hairdryer. I always let my hair air dry after I wash it, and I love it! It takes a while, but I think it helps to keep it fresh and healthy. I normally wash it before I go to bed, dry it a bit with a towel and put a dry towel on top of my pillow. When I wake up it’s normally dry, and smells amazing 😉 I also try not to use straighteners or curling irons, even though I have to curl it a lot when I work.
  • Use a good hairbrush
My hair tangles a lot, and I think there’s a huge difference in hairbrushes when I comb it. You don’t want to use a brush that breaks your hair, and it shouldn’t be very painful. These two makes it so easy to untangle my hair, and I recommend them so much!

  • Don’t colour it often
This one kinda speaks for itself, but I know a lot of people who like to experiment with their hair colour quite often. Even if it’s at home or at the hairdresser, it’s really bad for your hair! I’ve never coloured mine, but I did put some lighter stripes in it a few times. The days right after, I lost so much hair, so I stopped! It just stresses me out and I don’t think it’s worth it..
  • Use a lot of conditioner
I’ve heard that you shouldn’t use a lot of conditioner, but for me it works better to do it. I almost use as much conditioner as I use shampoo, and I put some extra in the ends. I try not to drag too much in my hair when I apply it, and rub it in properly.
  • Leave your hair out instead of putting it up with a hair tie
I notice a huge difference in my hair now, compared to when I was working at the Moulin Rouge! At Moulin Rouge we had to tie our hair up in a bun every night, and the headpieces would drag my hair a lot from side to side. I lost a lot of hair, especially around my hairline, and got a lot of baby hair.. Now I try to keep it out or in a low bun, and it helps a lot! My hair don’t break as much and it grows more evenly.

These are the easy things I do, and I hope they can help for you too!
