cinnamon buns

Last weekend I visited my sister, who makes the best cinnamon buns in the world!
I ended up eating too many, but you have to enjoy yourself sometimes, right? 😉

Because they’re so good, I want to share the recipe here with you guys!

Cinnamon buns 12 pieces
This is what you need:

  • 500 grams flour
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 80 grams sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1/2 a bag of dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams room-temperatured butter in cubes
  • cinnamon, butter and sugar for the filling
  • icing sugar for topping

This is what you do:

  • Blend the egg, milk and dry ingredients together and knead the dough
  • Cut the butter in cubes and add it to the dough
  • Knead until it feels quite firm, and let the dough raise for about an hour under a kitchen towel
  • Roll out the dough until it makes a nice surface
  • Put the filling (butter, cinnamon and sugar) on the surface- use as much as you’d like 😉
  • Roll the dough into a sausage and cut it into 12 pieces
  • Put the buns on a baking tray and let them raise another 20 minutes
  • Brush the buns with egg or butter if you want to
  • Put them in the oven at 220 degrees. Leave them in for about 10 minutes, but keep an eye on them to see if they need more or less time
  • Let the buns cool down on a grate
  • Lastly, put lots of icing sugar on top and enjoooooy!

I hope you’ll love them, and happy easter!
