where it all began

It’s time to write about the thing that’s been the main focus in my life until now- dance! I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember, and it’s been such an important thing in my life for all these years. Ups and downs, blood, sweat and tears, and some of the best memories I have.

I started dancing freestyle at the age of 3, mainly because my big sister was doing it. She is 7 years older than me, so I always wanted to do everything she did. Every time she was going to dance class I would come along, running behind her in my diapers. After a while, I started taking dance classes for children, and I soon found out that I loved dancing. As a 3 year old I did my very first competition, and I’m pretty sure the only thing I did was to run around in circles haha.. But hey, it’s all about having fun, right?

This is me around 1 year old, already practising my groove 😉

My training hours increased every year, and suddenly I was taking dance classes almost every day at 6 years old. I did my first competition over seas when I was 6, and it was in Brean Sands in England. I still remember how excited I was to be introduced to the unique world of freestyle, and I have one of my first memories from a competition there. My eyes were probably huge the whole trip, and it all got even better when I came to the final in something called slow. I also danced the team match and represented Norway, which was superfun but also a lot of pressure for a little girl.

After my great experience in England, I wanted more and more. I did competitions almost every weekend, and my mum and I would travel both in and out of the country to let me compete with the best dancers.

Then one day my sister decided to audition for the opera choir, and of course (as always) I wanted to try as well. I was still 6, and the answer was no. After the audition, one of the jury members came out and asked me if I wanted to audition for The Norwegian National Ballet School instead. I wanted to try, so a few weeks later I auditioned and got in! I decided to start, and continue doing freestyle on the side.

From there on, the story is loooong! But I’ve decided to share it with you one step at a time.

Have a great Sunday everyone, and take care ❤
