In these times it’s easy to get demotivated, sad and tired of everything. We’re in an unreal situation, and I really hope this nightmare will be over soon…
I haven’t been in quarantine myself, but I try to stay at home most of the time. As most of you, I’m used to a life full of work, hectic days, and many plans to take care of. That’s why it feels like I’m putting my life on hold by just staying home, with no job in my case. As a professional dancer and having my own firm, these months are going to be a challenge! All of my work in March, April and May is cancelled, and June is hanging by a thread. It’s crazy how much this is effecting everyone, and it’s made me realise even more how brutal and vulnerable my choice of work is.
When that’s said, I don’t feel like I have the right to complain. Both my family and myself are staying healthy for now, which is the most important thing. I’m so grateful for that, and feel really sorry for the people who haven’t been as lucky.
I’ve decided to make a list of things you can do at home if you’re quarantined or just bored, and I hope you can get something good out of it!
- Make yourself a needlework project
I love needlework, but normally don’t have enough time to do it. Therefore, I’m trying to pick a few projects on my to do-list now! My favourite is knitting, and I might post some sweaters for you later - Learn a new language or refresh one you know
One of my many goals, is to speak more languages fluently. It’s time to make it happen! I’ve downloaded an app called Duolingo, and I really like it. It let’s you choose from many languages, and you can do different tasks whenever you want. Try it out! - Make travel plans or plan something else to look forward to
I know many people including myself, that’s had to cancel trips. It feels like shit right now, and because we don’t know how long this will last, it’s hard to know when it will happen. Instead of thinking about when, I try to think about what! Search online for new cities you’ve never been to, and see what they have to offer. Maybe your destination and plan will change? - Try new recipes when you’re baking or making food
We now how plenty of time, so why not become a better cook and baker? I absolutely love food and all types of dessert, and wish I was even better at making it. Search for and try new things or ask your grandma for her old cooking book. Suddenly you’ll have a new favourite! - Look through photos and memories and make a scrapbook for yourself or someone else
I love taking photos, printing them out and making nice things out of it. Even if it’s a scrapbook, a collage to hang on the wall, a card or a cute video, I just find it fun to be creative and put it together! Not only is it nice to look back at when you’re older, it’s also a perfect gift for someone you love - Get things done
Use this chance to get things done! If you don’t have your license yet- start now, or if you wanna take some classes again to improve your grades- do it! Just find something you normally wouldn’t make a priority and do it - Find a calm place and write down your goals, inspirations and things you are grateful for
The weather in Norway has been really nice lately, which makes it very tempting to go out and sit in the sun. Find yourself a nice spot where you can sit by yourself, and write down your goals for the week, month or year! This really helps me to stay motivated in a time like this, and it’s also fun to go back and see if you made it at the end of the year. You can also write down your different inspirations, and end it all with a thing you’re grateful for ❤ - Work with and treat yourself
Remember that your body and mind needs as much or even more work than everything else! Find a training programme that fits you well, eat healthy, stretch and of course, give yourself some treats in-between it all… Maybe you can have a spa day, where all your focus is on yourself? If you have other people in the house you could give each other a massage with body lotion and oils. Go all in! You won’t regret it - Go through your closet and find things to give away
Most of us have way too many clothes, shoes, jewellery, things and so on… Take a proper look through your stuff and make a pile you can give away! There are many people who need it more than you - Contact your old friends
Finally, you’ll have time to make that call! Contact someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, and have a nice chat. I’m sure people will appreciate it in all of this chaos!
There you go, these are my best tips! Hope they will help you ❤
I’m sending you all lots of love, and I’m looking forward to when all of this is over!
